Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:


The primary function of the VP Senior Risk Manager is to provide the primary support for the bank’s Operational Risk Management program and infrastructure. As part of the management team for the second line of defense, the individual will act as a leader and advisor in identifying risks and controls that influence the organizations' ability to meet strategic and risk appetite objectives. This individual is also the manager of the administrator of the risk management software and databases to ensure accurate and effective assessments and reporting. The VP Senior Risk Manager collaborates with Lines of Business by acting as an advisor to identify and assess risks that influence their business and ability to meet strategic objectives established by senior and executive management. The VP Senior Risk Manager works closely with the Internal Audit Department, Information Security, and Compliance to ensure the reliability of management reporting is effective and consistent with the Banks’ Enterprise Risk Management framework. This individual will be expected to work under minimal supervision and will be accountable for making decisions appropriate for their position and level. The incumbent must continue professional development through internal and/or external resources and demonstrate the ability to effectively utilize technical and professional skills in daily activities responsible for Policy/Program content as it relates to the Bank’s Vendor Management and GLBA policy. It is also necessary to ensure policy standards and regulatory requirements are adhered to and make recommendations for policy updates based upon regulatory guidance and corporate standards. 


Major Responsibilities consist of the following:
  • Primary responsibility for the BRC (Archer) risk management system oversight and administration, including collaborating and supporting other areas within the Bank, to ensure the risk software is leveraged for efficiency and consistency.
  • Responsible for Policy/Program content as it relates to the Risk Control Self Assessments (RCSA), New Initiative, Vendor Management and GLBA policy.  Ensure policy standards and regulatory requirements are adhered to and make recommendations for policy updates based upon regulatory guidance and corporate standards
  • Responsible for developing and maintaining the Operational Risk Management program, including but not limited to conducting detailed analysis and data mining to identify, measure, monitor , validate and enumerate existing and emerging risks, and assisting management in the early identification of risk trends. Responsible and accountable for a concentration in one of the following areas of execution: GLBA, Vendor Management, Operational and New Initiative Risk Management.
  • Support Business Line Managers in the development, design and implementation of risk management practices, processes and control enhancements in areas identified for improvement by internal and external third parties
  • Provide project management disciplines to management’s corrective action plans and provide ongoing status reporting on the design, implementation and effectiveness of those plans to mitigate noted risk management, compliance or internal control issues. 
  • Facilitating the performance of Business Line risk assessments and Business line risk training
  • Maintain and co-ordinate documentation supporting the bank’s Enterprise Risk Management Program


Job Requirements

Education and Experience 
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience preferred. MBA preferred.
  • Three to five years Operational Risk, Internal audit, Compliance  bank operations, or other related internal control or financial analysis experience preferred
  • Strong foundation of the banking industry and operations from experience, including a position/role at a management/leadership level

Skills/Knowledge
  • Agreeable to obtaining a professional designation in the area of risk management or internal audit
  • Ability to apply internal control and risk management concepts to a business setting is preferred
  • Proficient in Archer or another risk management tool
  • Proficient Microsoft Office Suite and database tools
  • Effective written and oral communications
  • Effective facilitation and presentation skills
  • Strong technical and analytical skills
  • Promote a high level of client support and professionalism
