Applicant will be responsible for lending product strategy, management,development of new consumer lending offerings &capabilities to help deepen customer engagement and profitability for Eastern’s consumer lending businesses; this position will address a number of critical strategic lending initiatives with substantial impact to company earnings. As a recognized subject matter expert within the organization, the individual will exercise a wide degree of latitude, independence and discretion.  This role will work with key partners across the organization including Retail Administration, Marketing, Credit Risk, Technology, Finance, and Training groups.  The incumbent will also engage with external consultants and vendors on projects as needed.

This role requires an ability to interpret and analyze complex data/information to identify growth opportunities and define a clear path to achieving the growth objectives. This role will require both analytical and creative problem solving abilities to evaluate issues and identify the best solutions. The incumbent will need to have an ability to adapt quickly to change with a high degree of  independent decision making with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Build group analytics and reporting - create a standardized set of sales/portfolio reports to ensure all key stakeholders including senior management are kept up to date on business performance. Prepare and present materials for ALCO committee and other executive audiences 
  • Proactively identify opportunities to innovate for product developments and process re-engineering that help accelerate business growth. Develop an effective consumer lending product strategy, sales processes, and product launches by collaborating with key stake holders
  • Work with retail sales organization to provide required product knowledge and training including product training, sales aids, procedure/process manuals, policy updates and marketing materials.
  • Partner with Marketing to develop and execute marketing campaigns and maintain online content for lending products. Define success metrics across marketing campaigns and monitoring & reporting on a regular basis.
  • Manage and grow critical partnerships including credit card provider (Elan) which includes managing monthly branch promotions, tracking and evaluating product performance 
  • Regularly scan competitive landscape and ensure alignment with industry offerings and best practices to help define product strategies that grow customer engagement

Job Requirements

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of training and experience. MBA preferred. 
  • 8+ years experience in financial services product management, marketing or consulting. Consumer Lending and Digital marketing experience highly preferred.
  • Effective management style that ensures appropriate selection, leadership, training, and development of employees
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work cross-functionally based on solid understanding of the business 

  • Drives Results:  the inherent motivation to provide continuous improvement using both business and analytical acumen while developing optimal strategies and tactics to achieve results.  Emphasize strategy while maintaining focus on the details for a successful execution. 
  • Analytics:  experience utilizing data to infer trends and insights to drive decision making.  Experience integrating and managing large data sets from various sources.
  • Quick Thinking:  ability to work in a fast paced, dynamic environment while carrying multiple projects at any given time. Strong problem solving skills and willingness to roll up one’s sleeves to get the job done
  • Teamwork:  successful track record in leading and managing internal and external teams.  Ability to “sell” or gain buy-in across function or organization.
  • Financial Skills:  deep understanding of key revenue and expense drivers. Ability to model and track financial goals and targets and develop business models and pro-forma financials. P&L management experience preferred. 
  • Communication:  Strong interpersonal and communications skills is a must with demonstrated ability to coordinate across various teams
  • Independent Thinker: Acting independently in making decisions related to product development strategy when appropriate
  • Driven, assertive, innovative, resourceful and a keen eye for details
