The Learning & Development Specialist serves as the HR lead for overall execution of all corporate training programs and communication.  Additionally, this role is responsible for leading the administrative and project management efforts for training programs and the activities of the L&D team.  Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Provides project management resources for all internal, large-scale projects that have significant training implications such as new product launches, new system implementations, mergers and acquisitions, and significant process changes that have customer experience impact.  As a project leader, develops and/or recommends the most effective training solutions and learning modalities for both implementation and on-going needs.  Assists in development of training materials and resources.
  • Coordinates and administers logistics and materials for a range of HR and L&D activities including, projects, events, and training classes. Independently manages all logistics including, but not limited to: communication and confirmations, coordination and scheduling of resources (corporate trainers, SMEs, and adjunct trainers) and outside consultants.  Estimates facility needs and schedules appropriate training labs, conference rooms, networking space, off-site venues; including arrangements for catering and building access.  Arranges A/V & necessary classroom support, provides materials and delivery of workshop materials, evaluations and classroom needs such as posters, flip charts, name tags/tents, etc.  Coordinates billing and payment of all associated expenses.
  • Manages all aspects of our Performance and Talent Management systems.  Assists managers and employees in using the system.  Creates and collaborates on execution of the strategic roadmap for these subsystems over time.  Administers the Talent Review process, ensures ongoing development plans are in process and actions are following plan.  Serves as a resource for HR Generalists on the process.
  • Responsible for the design, execution and analysis of employee engagement survey.  Works on RFP for survey vendor.  Manages the relationship with the vendor.  Works with HR Generalists and Division/Department Managers on survey reporting.  Also manages vendor relationship with Predictive Index, and other assessment tools. 
  • Analyzes the impact of our training programs and makes recommendations for changes as needed.  Provides constructive feedback for current training programs and sources SMEs, adjunct trainers, and qualified consultants to develop or deliver training.  Reviews existing training program content for accuracy, consistency, scalability, and utility. 
  • Effectively executes expense control and reporting requirements for training related activities of the HR business plan. Coordinates overall L&D expenses and related training production costs, tracks and reports ACD’s (training hours).  Assists in the evaluation of the effectiveness of current training vendors and services and makes recommendations aligned with our corporate supplier diversity program.  Assists in conducting RFP processes, contract negotiations, and oversees vendor engagements.
  • Proactively keeps abreast of innovation and trends leading the education and learning space.  Incorporates best practices and learning theory into overall learning strategies and training offerings.  Helps others by sharing this information.


Job Requirements

  • BA/BS degree in related field and/or a minimum 7 years teaching and/or training in a business setting. 
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as take direction is required.   
  • A solid understanding and/or experience in project management required. 
  • Ability to manage multiple large-scale projects to ensure on-time delivery and quality using both internal and external resources.
  • Effective and adaptable communication to successfully work collaboratively with trainers, project management, and with formal and adhoc teams.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; must be able to build relationships across the organization through tact, poise, professionalism, teamwork and the ability to collaborate with a variety of diverse personalities. 
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships and work effectively as a team player in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to embrace change, and be productive in a fast-paced environment while efficiently and effectively handling changing priorities.
  • Demonstrated strong problem-solving skills; must be able to work under pressure to resolve logistical, technical and scheduling problems quickly and professionally.
