The Data Governance Analyst assists the data governance team in the formation and execution and administration of Eastern’s data governance framework, policies and standards. This position assesses governance requirements, recommends proposed governance, assists in bringing legacy data up to new governance requirements and assists in the overall implementation, execution and administration of Eastern’s enterprise data governance program.

The incumbent will be responsible for the review and approval of all data remediation recommendations produced by the Data Stewards.  Included in that effort will be early guidance to the Data Stewards regarding key stakeholders required, and, influencing the stakeholder’s efforts to successfully close the data issues.  Accurate identification of stakeholders will ensure timely closure and reduce any potential negative downstream impacts.

Major Responsibilities include the following:

•Develops in-depth familiarity with customer data flows, uses and requirements.  Maintains and periodically publishes an inventory of customer data entry points and data flows inside and outside the bank.  Continuously iterate on the map to identify data commonalities that could be better leveraged or discrepancies that require resolution and recommends remedies as necessary.
•Performs manual remediation of data in source systems as necessary to comply with relevant governance.  Develops requirements for automated data remediation and function as a designer, tester and project manager for the development of automated remediation efforts.
•Completes analysis of usage and requirements for any data element identified to come under data governance control.  Understand, document and recommend remedy for any adverse implications.
•Participates in the identification of needs and the development of data controls to ensure the accuracy and quality of data throughout all consuming data channels.  Provides thought leadership and participates with projects to help resolve any of the upstream or downstream data flows and processes as assigned.
•Assists in the development, management and publication of data governance metrics that inform the current state of data quality and reliability.  Develops metrics to assist in the identification of critical data control issues.

Job Requirements

Education and Experience 

•Bachelor’s degree in information technology, business, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
•2 years data quality or similar level data analysis experience required.
•1 years SQL and VBA experience required.
•1 years financial services experience required
Skills/Knowledge
