The position requires critical thinking and high-level management skills adhering to the goals and objectives of Eastern Bank. Independent thinking to analyze and resolve customer issues and effectively listen to determine customer requirements and satisfy them.  The incumbent can evaluate circumstances and make autonomous decisions that take the Bank, Department, individual, and customer impacts into account, while helping manage risk for all parties involved.  This person must have a high level of expertise regarding risk analysis, corporate compliance and a high degree of expertise in Asset Based Lending Sales, Product, and Operations.  This role would be responsible for the coaching and development of the Asset Based Lending team members to achieve assigned targets. 

Strategic Planning

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive strategic plan to increase ABL growth.
  • Guides senior management on strategic decisions and establishes the vision for the ABL group.
  • Collaborate with management to monitor revenue production vs goals assigned to the business.
  • Develop metrics, analyze trends and recommend business changes to improve existing and new business opportunities.
  • Recruit and on-board new colleagues to help grow and manage the business on an as needed basis.
  • Develop strategic partnerships with applicable business lines.

Business Development 

  • Manage and develop an individual book of business
  • Increase Eastern’s participation in “club” and syndicated loan opportunities by increase Eastern’s ABL exposure in the marketplace.
  • Engage with local community affairs and COI groups as appropriate for ABL clients.  
  • Network with customers, community, and internal groups to stay abreast of industry changes, advancements, regulatory issues, and customer requirements.

Job Requirements

  •  Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of training and experience required, MBA preferred.
  • 10 years of ABL Lending experience
  • 5 years as a Team Leader / Manager of an ABL group
  • Proven ability to direct a team, plan for future growth and anticipate changing business requirements
  • Experience with Stucky Collateral Management system
